"Cosmetic surgeon" describes what a physician does, not their training. Unlike plastic surgery, it is not a recognized specialty with its own residency, so physicians from various backgrounds may use it. Some are highly experienced; the title alone doesn't tell you that.
Look for board certification and the specialty it's in, the number of times they have performed the specific procedure you want, hospital privileges for that procedure, and before-and-after results. For non-surgical treatments offered at their practice, ask who performs them.
We list cosmetic surgery practices for their non-surgical aesthetic services. Surgical decisions deserve direct, credential-focused research.
Search the Florida Department of Health license verification tool for the physician's license, specialty, and any disciplinary history, and check the certifying board's website directly.
