Specialized lasers (Q-switched and picosecond devices) deliver very short pulses that shatter tattoo ink into particles small enough for the body to clear. Each session lightens the tattoo; a series is needed because ink sits at different depths and colors respond differently.
Sessions are short, with a snapping sensation and cooling. Redness, swelling, and sometimes blistering follow for a few days. Sessions are spaced six to eight weeks apart to let the body clear ink. Complete removal often takes 6–12 sessions; some colors (greens, light blues) are harder to remove than black.
Per session, based on tattoo size, often with package pricing. Ask for a realistic estimate of the number of sessions.
The device (picosecond lasers are generally faster), who operates it, experience with your skin tone, and honest expectations about colors that may not fully clear.
Usually 6–12 sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart, depending on ink colors, depth, tattoo age, and your skin tone.
With proper settings and aftercare, scarring is uncommon. Blistering and temporary pigment changes can occur and usually resolve.
